It's an important object about precision measure and error evaluation to the abnormity and complicated profile in geometric measure at all times. With the technology of coordination-measure applied widely, it's very useful to measure fast and evaluate profile's deviation accurately, which can raise productivity and product quality and take full advantage of existing devices. In this paper, the geometric model of gear hob is established first and then the function expressions of measure-track curve and the calculation of deviation are derived, at last the system's validity is verified by the experimentation of measuring the gear hob's profile. The following achievements have been gained.1. There are several different types of base worm for gear hob, most mathematics models of gear hob are formed variously based on different worm types. In this paper, a general geometric model of gear hob is established by theory of differential geometry by referring to great lot of literatures.2. The equations of measure tracks for several error items are derived from the standard for gear hob, based on the geometry model of gear hob. The data from probe and grating is processed before being used to calculate the deviation; the primary process is compensation for the radius of probe. The equation of compensation is derived from the theory of equidistance curve and simulated using the soft-ware of MATLAB.3. A control is designed, which can be operated by mouse conveniently and can realize the functions of zooming, moving, reassessing, showing detail information of the curve and so on; It can show different deviation curve shape and fit the deviation data to line or conic by least square method.4. The measure system is evaluated by measuring the helix, profile, mesh error of the gear hob that the precision rank is known. The data is also analyzed briefness.
