With the rapid development of economy of our country, the need for nickel in the field of stainless steel industry and plating industry has increased greatly. JinChuan Group Ltd. (located in GanSu province) is the biggest company which has produced nickel, cobalt, copper, platinum and other coloured metals. The production system of the company is very complexed and the scale is really great. In the process of producing nickel, copper tubes have been sued for electricity. The copper tubes have to be polished, but there have been some difficulties in polishing them, such as the equipment is less automatic, lack of large quantities of production and the working condition is really bad. So the workers have to work hard. However, there is not automatic producing equipment in China now, which can be used in the process of polishing the copper tubes. In some way, the research and development on such equipment has great significance for JinChuan Group Ltd. It is very important for the company to increase its yield and to develop its process of production. This thesis does its best to propose a new polishing way and to design a new special kind of equipment and hope that they can provide some help for polishing industry.According to the field survey to the nickel producing process of the company and some related information, the author has conceived a new polishing way about metals with tube shape by using some theory about polishing metal, virtual prototype and some mechanism technology. The author has also conceived a sheme for this kind of equipment. Then the author has designed its solid geometry model by using the software of Solidworks2007, and has analysed their stress on the condition of force by using the software of COSMOSWorks2007 for some key parts, and has predigested the model and imitated its movement by using the software of COSMOSMotion briefly. The author has also designed its electrical controlling system and manipulating interface by using PLC technology. In addition, some dust avoided controlling measures are proposed in the thesis. And some further study has been conceived in the end of this thesis.
