Substation is the place where voltage can be transformed and electricity can be exchanged, it is composed by the power transformer and distribution devices. The safety and reliability of the substation has important significance for industrial enterprises, hospital, national defense and traffic, which is directly determined by the safe and reliable operation in transformer substation, and then whether substation can run reliably largely depends on its secondary equipment. In recent years, hardware, software, network, communication and the control technology have developed rapidly, these new technologies are more and more used in industrial control fields. Substation system is also becoming more and more intense desire for these new technology. In substation automation system, when an exception occurs should immediately make corresponding measures, which requires the data transmission faster; Again, for many frequent equipment failure and damage which is caused by working for long times, system should predict the situation, and these action require the computer system has a powerful database software and more user-friendly man-machine interface design, but also requires a computer equipped with high-speed CPU; As many substations local in relatively remote rural areas, and need the worker 24 hours on duty, so the unattended substation standing more urgent need.In this paper, based on power supply network technical requirements in Jiexiu coal substation, a reasonable design has been made for substation automation systems. It uses the field bus network structure, the current, voltage, power frequency, active and reactive power, power measurement and other physical data, in busbar circuits and power supply circuit, can be collected, analysised. processed, also sent to the back interface which are presented to the operator through friendly Man-machine interface. The worker can observe the real-time changes of these indicators and control primary device and set protection value parameters through computers; The system also has multiple line protection and alarm functions, once the event of a failure happened, the computer will automatically take appropriate protective action, it greatly improve the safety and reliability of the substation and reduce the staffing; The monitoring software can backup the curve and historical data for failure analysis.This subject which design the substation automation system select SIEMENS SIPROTEC 4 input/output Unit and multi-functional protectiv relay unit, these devices equip a variety of international communication standard protocols to choose, so it has good compatibility. It use PNetPower V6.0, a dedicated power monitoring configuration software, which combines common configuration software and the power professional technology, facilitating and simplifing the development of monitoring picture.This paper first introduce briefly the development of integrated substation automation system, followed by a detailed analysis of the role of the various hardware units, principle, function parameter settings and wiring debugging; third, in detail analyze the design of the system software interface, data connection, graphics save the report; Finally, make deeply analyze the substation automation system as a whole and prospect the future of its development. After communication with the staff who working in Jiexiu coal substation, I understand the system hardware/software componentsn working principle of control,and some problems in the existing substation actual operation. At the same time I consulted for a number of experienced teachers. Through discussed with the senior engineers working in SIEMENS energy group and Beijing enforce company we made a comprehensive evaluation about the feasibility, rationality, economical efficiency, openness of the design. Then, I made some work such an equipment selection, hardware wiring design, functional design, monitoring software design and so on, completed the substation integrated automation design finally.
