With automatic control, computer technology and communication technology unceasing enhancement, the automation control level of Chinese electric power system gained great development, gradually entered the stage of full implementation of integrated automation system of the substation. At present, the transformation of the integrated automation system of 220 k V Benxi substation is in full swing. Some actual problems in the process of transformation were discussed in this paper, and so it has important engineering value and practical significance.This paper expounds the basic concept, the structure, the function and characteristics of the integrated automation system of the substation, and points out the necessity of integrated automation system of substation. In this paper, the transformation of the integrated automation system of 220 kV Benxi substation acted as an example. Combining with the running situation of the primary and secondary equipment in 220 k V Benxi substation, the paper designs overall reconstruction scheme of the integrated automation system of 220 k V Benxi substation. And respectively the primary and secondary equipment renovation project, the transformation of objectives and principles, implementing scheme and key technologies are discussed and analysis, summarizes the problems existing in the implementation process, difficulties and corresponding countermeasures, for the future substation intelligent transformation provides the feasibility of the implementation of the plan.
