This paper discusses the research status and application level at home and abroad of the CAE technology, the trend of development with frame FEM technique is analyzed, FEM technique and the corresponding improved method are proposed to analysis and improve the heavy tractor-truck frame structure, which is aim to meet the requirements of various static or dynamic characteristics index and realize the enhance of the frame's overall performance.This paper chooses a heavy tractor-truck frame which is designed and produced by certain Automobile Group Co., Ltd as the research object. The three-dimensional model of the frame is created in Pro/E software, a finite element software named HyperMesh has the advantage of pre-treatment,which is used to geometry clean-up and extract the neutral surface of frame model, then shell element is used to define some properties, such as thickness and material, finally, the FEM model of the frame is built.the boundary conditions of frame is determined by the combination of design theory and practice, according to the five typical driving conditions of Semi-trailer, its frame model is analyzed by FEM technique and the static strength properties of semi-trailer tractor frame is assessed synthetically. After these processes some intensity defects and safety hazards toward this frame are founded, the problem should be resolved by improving structure.In the process of modal analysis with the improved frame structure, the frequency and vibration of the thirteen pre-order modes are analyzed, and the result shows that improved frame structure may cause the vehicle body vibration. Frame natural frequency is ameliorated by combing with the natural frequency and vibration characteristics of the frame and adding ingot beam to change its design parameters, which avoid engine's idle frequency and random road's excitation frequency.etc within the external excitation frequency range that may cause frame resonance, and largely reduce the possibility of vehicle noise and body vibration. The improved structure satisfies the design requirements of frame structure and increases the vehicle comfort index. It lays foundation to the research of vehicle vibration, fatigue, noise and other issues, it also provides the theoretical basis to the structural improvement.This research has important reference value and guide significance in the aspect of design, analysis, improvement and optimization of similar heavy tractor frame.
