Wind turbine tower is an important bearing component, which not only supports the entire wind turbine, but also withstands the impact of a variety of loads on wind turbine operation. To ensure the normal operation of the wind turbine in a variety of load conditions, costs and weight are reduced. It is necessary to check the strength and stiffness of the tower. Using general finite element analysis software GUI (Graphical User Interface) operation required a lot of work on the finite element analysis of tower. Particularly, the geometric dimension of the tower and finite element model parameters need frequent changes in pre-processing, and analysis results are influenced by the skills, theoretical knowledge and even the personal experience of the operator.To improve the design and analysis efficiency of the wind turbine tower, the overall design scheme of the system is proposed according to the characteristics of static strength analysis and dynamic property analysis, the working process of the system is determined, and the main functions of a preprocessing module, a computational analysis module and a post-processing module are analyzed in this paper; then the implementation method of parametric finite element analysis of the tower is researched. For the structural characteristics of the tower, the parametric modeling of the geometrical model of the tower is realized in a point-coordinates numbering mode, and the finite element modeling of the tower is realized in cross-section grouping and edge grid seed setting methods. Finally, operations of defining boundary conditions, material properties and loads in the preprocessing of the tower, result extraction in the post-processing, etc. are realized by controlling the unit and node numbers of the finite element model of the tower.The streamlined operation of the parametric finite element analysis of the tower is realized and the parametric finite element analysis system of wind turbine tower is established on the basis of the platform of finite element analysis software MSC.Patran by the parametric design language PCL (Patran Command Language) of MSC.Patran. The validity and the practicability of the system are tested by the static strength and dynamic characteristic analysis of a certain type of 1.5MW wind turbine tower, and the results show that the application of the system can not only get accurate results, but also improve the design efficiency of the tower.
