Comparison Research On Industry Design Education Between China And Western Countries

China has become the largest country around the world in the field of higher education of art design in the first ten years of 21st century. The major of art and design has become so hot that thousands of universities recruit design majors, with more than 100,000 art students in these schools, in which more than 250 has the right to award a master's degree, and the most popular direction is Industrial Design.In the last 30 years, great achievements have been made in the major of industrial design. However, a lot of problems still exist. China has become a great country in the education of art and design, while most of our products are lack of design. Why is there such contradiction? To answer this question, we have to analyze the domestic education of art and design .There is an old saying of"no comparison, no identification". So in this article I will compare the education of industrial design in America, Finland and Germany as well as analyze that in China. The purpose of this article is to find the reason through the comparison of the courses in the major of industrial design and then find a solution.The education of industrial design in America has developed for over half a century, in the process the America education system constantly trying to meet the needs of consumers and the society, constantly experience the inspection of the market and the economy, and finally make perfect achievement today. We can get experience as well as lessons from every stage of the America development. So we should take the essence and discard the dregs, and take advantage of them according to our own education characteristics.Germany, the origin of modern industrial design and modern industrial design education, has played a key role in the development of design within Germany or even around the world with its distinctive characteristics of design. In the end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century, Germany has the greatest feudal forces, but its economy had quickly surpassed that of France (the cradle of Capitalist economy) and Britain(the origin of industrial revolution). The constant development of German industry and the worldwide approval of its industrial design are all benefit from its industrial design education. All in all, it is of great significance for the development of Chinese industrial design education to analyze the spirit of Germany industrial design education.Finland is a great country in the field of industrial design, its industrial design appears in a quite wide field. And its enterprise can always be far ahead in the fierce international competition and keep long-term development."If the brilliant achievements Finland has made in its industrial design is an iceberg in the sea, the perfect design education system is the huge iceberg body under the sea". Finland is one of the Scandinavia countries with a long history and distinctive geographic style. Its perfect education system is the reason why we learn and study it.
