Airfield lights system is more importance for the safety of aircraft taking off and landing. However, its daily inspection and maintenance is extremely difficult because of poor using environment and wide range, which urgently needs a system that can identify and locate the fault point quickly and accurately. In addition, foreign fault detecting system requires the laying of a special cable, which need substantial investment and long cycle, and domestic airfield do not want re-construction, so it must use special way of signal transmission. The issue is just for these two requirements.The application of the project named airfield lights fault detecting system based on power line carrier communication technology can automatically detect and feedback airfield lights fault conditions, and locate coordinates of fault lights accurately. Meanwhile, it solves the problems that domestic airport don't need to lay special cables by the application of power line carrier technology as a means of communication and the using of power line cable as a signal carrier.The whole system is divided into upper and lower monitor. Upper monitor is in charge of sending fault detection commands and receiving fault information, then display the fault type and coordinates. Lower monitor is in charge of collecting fault information, receiving commands and uploading the fault information. Making use of power line carrier technology for upper and lower monitor's communication, which is the challenges and key for system implementation. Use line carrier communication technology based on FSK, select the power line carrier chip ST7538Q which meet the stander of the domestic electric network to complete the conversion between digital signal and frequency signal. Finally, the thesis gives receive and send program of power line carrier.The hardware uses 51 Microcontroller—89C51 as the control center, and software uses assembly language for programming. A detailed discussion of the system hardware and software design of the system is given, and the hardware circuit design principle diagram and software program flow chart. Finally, simulating the hardware and software, which indicates the design is reasonable and feasible.
