So far the development of architectural design, architects and space in the shape processing has become increasingly mature. As in the architectural design of building materials has been of concern, its performance is also increasingly important. The emergence of new architectural forms and new materials always have to rely on new technology. Therefore, the performance of the material to be renewed focus on performance and interpretation, research and develop the design and use of building materials, improved building design is undoubtedly an important research ideas and methods. This paper concerns the use of construction materials and materials to perceived characteristics of the material on the material performance and the perception that people feel for the research on how to better understand and use materials to get a place of human space expected to meet the growing variety of life, work needs and emotional needs. From the perspective of Phenomenology of Perception, respectively, from the perception of physical feelings and mental awareness are two categories to analyze and study how to use the materials to create a good sense of architectural space and place to build a building's character and temperament. In this paper, the basic perceptual characteristics of the material, mainly in humans, "four being": visual, tactile, auditory, olfactory and other sensory perceptions of the material to commence the study, these perceptions can be the primary form of respect from the combination of physiological feelings, "The Sixth Sense "to create a space that can be perceived. The first chapter is an introduction, describes the architectural importance of the intervention materials. The second chapter is the concept of perceived characteristics of material and presentation and discussion of perceived performance of the material. The third chapter is by studying the properties of common perception of the performance of a single material, especially the visual characteristics of performance, to explore the common characteristics of the material and its rich mix and match the performance capabilities. Chapter IV is a combination of creative design architect instance, to further tap the perception of material properties and performance characteristics, and through the use of the material characteristics and performance properties, around the materials used in architectural design, architectural character and temperament of the start of construction to an advanced form of consciousness - a comprehensive mental perception, that is, the level of communication to create a sense of personality and human qualities of cultural construction.
