With the information technology developed rapidly, equipments have been tending to miniaturization, lightweight, modularization, intelligence and complex, which requires more reliable and higher capable electronic devices. Nowadays, Manufacture Execute System (MES) is well used in the traditional manufacturing, but it has not been a application precedent for the Surface Mount Technology(SMT) industry, which seriously hampers the development of SMT.In the paper, based on the research of key technologies and strcture of MES, a MES for the SMT jobshop is designed, which well overcomes the limitations of existing MES. The main work of the paper are as follows. Firstly, the functional requirements are analyzed, and the corresponding architecture structure design and module compartmentalization for MES are completed. The function of MES is also expanded. Secondly, combined with industrial Ethernet and computer technology, the structures of data collection and transmission between jobshop and upper organization, key regions, key devices are respectively researched and realized. Thirdly, a pre-process system structure before prodcuing is designed to solve the problems caused by the disjiointed design and production, such as more rework, difficult processing and high cost of test-production. Fourthly, an architecture of prodution adminstration system is researched and designed for shop arrrangement optimization, management of production plan and data visualization, especially for the materials management.The research results show that the system proposed in the paper reaches the expected effectness in the rapid, multi-species and variable batch production of the electornic equipment, which manifests superiority of MES applied in SMT and thus enhances efficience of production and reliabilty of productivity.Data collection, system setting and state of equipment real-time display for other key devices are the research emphasises in our future work, which will make the system satisfy the requirement of production operation and human-computer interaction.
