Research On Chinese Motel Design

Motel has widely developed in North America, Europe and other developed countries, and welcomed favourably very much by travelers, with its low cost, investment, simple service is, streamlined, and other factors. After decades of development, whether its building shape or management is more mature and develops its own unique hotel system and to be an underestimated force in foreign tourist hotel industry. However, limited in economic, social and other factors, motel starts little earlier in Taiwan than in mainland, and as one kind of budget hotel, motel develops more slower than other types of budget hotels. Until Motel 168 as the first mainland motel appeared, it shows that motel is in China. Now people lack research for the new form of budget hotel and still leave exploratory stage, the study of architectural design of the motel is unprecedented.As highly relevant commercial buildings, Motel design covers many aspects. So this paper attempts to discuss the architectural design of the motel on a broader perspective of the theoretical background. The research is not only confined in the range of architectural design, but also included management, socio-economic, consumer psychology, tourism and other areas of human society, and discusses the development model of the motel.The full text is composed of five parts:The first chapter:It introduces the research background, the significance, the content, the purpose and method, and describes the research of the domestic and foreign correlation literature in detail.The second chapter:First it researches the traceability of the hotel, and clearly defines the definition of the motel, and finally reviews the development of foreign motel.The third chapter:Text is the investigation of motel in domestic city, analysis the status development of motels in Taiwan and mainland, and researches the social motives of the development of motel, and uncovers problems in the current motel. The fourth chapter:This is the key point of the thesis. It answers how to solve problems based on the issues raised in previous chapters. Learning from the successful experience of foreign motels, this chapter studies the correlation problems of design of domestic motel, including planning the location, functions, facade, the design of parking, internal alteration, etc, summarized the motel should be followed in the design of some of the basic principles and methods.The five chapter:It is a prospective study of the motel. Text analysis the market demand of motel in China, and proposes the development mode and design trends in motel and in future. To hope for article could provide some contributions for future construction and development of the motel.Though motel in Taiwan is more mature than in mainland, as for the mainland, the motel is in its infancy. As the new thing, the motel has not even been known by many people. I hope this thesis tries an attempt to provide practical guidance, and improves the attention of the industry and academia for the motel to gain more research and support, so it can provide practices for future structure and enable the rapid development of the motel to be the new economic growth point of the tourism industry.
