With increased awareness of environmental protection, scarcity of oil resources and high price of oil in the world, increasingly stringent IMO standards of ship emission, energy saving and emission reducing has become the universal public voice in society, people are increasingly turning to clean energy. As wind energy is widely distributed, non-polluting, so the sailing comes back. Different from the old sailing ship which propelled the ship as the main propulsion plant, modern sail-assisted technology provides auxiliary propulsion power. In this paper, the multi-functional ship sailing for the study, the design of sailing, airfoil selection, model test methods and energy efficiency Sailing exploratory study carried out in order for the sailing ship, some ideas for further applications and evidence.The paper focused several aspects of work on the overall design of sailing, airfoil theory and simulation, small-scale model test in wind tunnel and analysis the sailing characteristics according to the test data. First, the paper collect the type of main Sail, their basic principles, applications, existing problems were studied. Comparative the main Sail on the type of structure, aerodynamics and other factors. According to the design of the main philosophy, for the characteristics of the selected target ship, the main parameters of the specific design sailing. Second, from a theoretical point of airfoil blades of sailing to analyze and study the working principle, and the impact of wing aerodynamic performance of the main factors were analyzed and research carried out into the simulation of several airfoil analysis and design of two airfoil wing used as a test model; Further work on wind tunnel tests similar to the principles of theory and research, design a wind tunnel for model test wind speed and model in wind tunnel testing methods; final analysis the test data, sorting, complete multi-functional ship sailing the final design, analysis, including sailing power generation efficiency, and promote efficiency and mode switching points, etc., characteristics.Ships sailing in the wind on the adverse circumstances, this paper design sailing can get better energy-saving effect than the original sailing.
