With the great development of power electronic technology and the high-power AC motor variable frequency drive technology, ship electric propulsion comes into a new flourishing period of development. Ship electric propulsion has many advantages over traditional propulsion, and is a hotspot of research in ship building now. As a way of electric propulsion Podded electric propulsion systems have been used for many years, especially used on the types of ship such as passenger vessels, ice breakers, supply vessels. In this field there is a wide gap between in eternal and external researches. So do some study about this field is very neeessary.This paper comes from a small proportion of simulation model of a marine electric propulsion pod, and its realization method is used.The AC Transmission System for podded electric propulsion based on the theory of AC drive and frequency control, use the PLC technology to design loop simulation of a small percentage of the SSP podded propeller model, so that it can it can realize the functions of the Pod's 360 degree dewing, the stewing position examine and the stewing speed closed loop control.The research content of this thesis mainly have the following:(1) This paper firstly introduces the development of electric propulsion ship and podded propulsion. And then it introduces the advantages and disadvantages of the SSP pod. The design introduces the theory associated with the AC motor control system and the PLC technology detailedly.(2) The AC Transmission System for podded electric propulsion based on the theory of AC drive and frequency control, use the PLC technology to design loop simulation of a small percentage of the SSP podded propeller model.(3) Finally, this paper introduces the hardware structure and software control for Podded electric propulsion and realized the system function.Some exploring research on pod propulsion and AC drive system has been developed in this paper, and the author gained some experience form it. This paper is the base of further research about this subject.
