Recently, with the rapid development of the electrical semiconductor, the AC motor control theory and the computer control technology, the technology of the digital communications becomes mature gradually, the marine electrical propulsion system has been made a great breakthrough at mobility, dependability, operational efficiency and propulsion power, and its application range is extended constantly. Supported by the marine electrical propulsion simulation lab of national significant subject "marine engineer" in Wuhan University of Technology, this project has done some research on simulation software and half-physics of the marine electrical propulsion system.This system let the electricity propulsion system in our lab as the study object. One shipboard was simulated by Half-physical system, which can simulate the various operational state, manipulation and system protection functions in the navigation. And the other shipboard was simulated by the computer and compared with the physical simulation system, so the validity of the mathematics model can be tested. At the same time, they were all managed by the Power Management System (PMS). This system constituted by mathematical modeling, visual simulative interfaces and the dynamic model of half-physics, it's real-time and visual. The mathematics model and simulation equipment can offer a higher-level simulation research.In this paper, the design ideas and the functions of the system are the emphases, The system was built by a series of SIEMENS's products such as motor, frequency converter, transformer , PLC, operate plant etc. The PLC was programmed by the Step7, which can operate the operational platform, adjust the speed, set the frequency converter and simulate the ship sail. The monitoring interface was programmed by the WinCC, which can measure the diversified states and show a variety of operational parameter through the trend picture. By using the WinCC and Step7, it can set different experimentations to simulate the characteristic of the screw propeller. The communicate problem among the simulative PC , the PLC andthe WinCC is solved, the data can be transmitted from the PLC to the server and download the data from the mathematical model calculation to PLC by WinCC, this process is based on the applications program which developed by VC on the simulation platform. Finally, with the experiment on the variety of simulated operational states of navigation, it was analyzed for the response n the stability > the safety of this system.
