Construction procedure of the complex spatial structure is a gradual changed process. During the construction, structure state is persistently changed including structural form, structural characteristics, boundary condition and load condition of each construction stage. The mechanical characteristics of structure on construction are obviously different from the designed structure. Because modeling of complex space structure is frequently peculiar, the construction cost of structure is very expensive. Researchers want to make production scale models to obtain scientific law which often do not have realistic conditions. Combined with project practice, researchers can study complex spatial structure construction process by construction simulation and monitoring of the structure. It has very important theoretical significance and engineering value.Based on the steel roof structure of Huangshi stadium which is space oblique cross lattice structure, construction process of the roof is simulated by the finite element soft MIDAS/Gen. The calculation method of simulation is state variable superimposed analysis. Points of the finite element model are introduced in the paper. Because simulation analysis'results of all structure groups are compared in the soft, maximum stress and vertical deformation maximum of component are in roof girder group which is the key site on construction monitoring. At the same time, stress and deformation date of the roof girder and metope beam are gained. These date provide theoretical support for construction monitoring. Some mechanics problems of structural construction process are analyzed and calculated. All of these calculations can provide theoretical support for construction safety.According to the results of construction simulation and designed drawings of the structure, construction monitoring scheme of the roof is made. The scheme has two aspects:stress monitoring and displacement monitoring. The monitoring is followed one goal which is the structure designed state. On the other hand, the state of structure on construction must be complied with the designed and standard code. Compared theoretical value with measured value, the results show that displacement error rate is 14% and stress error rate is 9%. The results show that the simulation method is feasible. Monitoring results show the main stage is support uninstall stage which influence space structural internal force and deformation. Simplified approach of cast steel nodes or steel plate nodes has a significant effect on displacement of the nodes during construction process.In the paper, Simulation analysis method and construction monitoring of the structure have important theoretical and practical significance for the design and construction of rigid structure system.
