Tailings are important facilities to a mine. During operation, these tailings dam maybe failure prone, flood overtopping and piping, etc, will cause casualties and property losses, so the safety evaluation system for tailings is needed.First of all, make accident statistics for a tailing, give the basic cause to the accident tailings, and put qualitative analysis on the tailings dam incidents by the trees, in order to determine which events most likely to lead to the top of the basic events fault through tree analysis. According to the comprehensive viewpoint to the accident and combined with tailings circumstances, from the inherent safety of equipments, environmental impact, and comprehensive security management, we can establish a multi-level security evaluation index system by AHP. Then, because of these characteristics of the uncertainty reasons for the accidents to tailings, we use fuzzy theory, and the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method will be applied to the tailings system. we make a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation on the the overall security situation in the system for ash tailings of Chang-huai power plant, obtaining the system security level. Lastly, according to the results, the problems for the system proposed safety countermeasures.Use stability of quantitative evaluation by Sweden circular slice method on tailings dam to calculate the ash tailings stability of different periods, while the dam-break simulation analysis is going on, analysing the dam failure impact on the downstream so that the safety countermeasures can be proposed according to the simulation results.
