Based on the 2 dimension electronic chart, Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) integrates various navigation information, furthermore displays the comprehensive analysis. Through such a functioning process, it can reduce the mariners'labor intensity to guarantee a safe navigation of the ship. However, as an application of 2 dimensions, ECDIS can hardly provide the ship with the 3D information about the sailing environment which is more visualized and detailed. The two dimensional electronic chart has some defeats, for example, it can hardly simulates the real sailing environment because of its abstract symbols. In order to avoid these disadvantages, people study the 3D electronic chart system which can simulates the 3D underwater and water environment. However, the current 3D electronic chart system also has macroscopic lacks and can not accord with navigation habits. To study the navigation system, which is based on the information fusion of two and three dimensional space information fusion, can provide the 3D information of the true image of the navigation environment, conform to the navigation habit of the crew, and solve the existed problems of the two and three dimensional electronic chart system. Thus, it is also one of the important directions in the development of the electronic chart system. After summarizing the current development of the 2D and 3D electronic chart and learning from the digital earth platform's successful application case in other areas, we construct a new type of navigation application foundation platform which is based on the hyperspace information fusion. To achieve this, we use the digital earth technology, blend the 2D electronic chart with image data, and apply the digital elevation model (DEM) as well as the 3D object model.Followings are the major work of this paper:(1) Apply iTelluro GlobeEngine SDK to establish digital earth platform, and design the whole framework of the ship navigation application foundation platform which is based on the hyperspace information fusion.(2) Study data acquisition and organizational structure of hyperspace. On this basis, through visualizing the feature objects which is extracted from the electronic chart ENC data file, integrate 2 dimensional chart data and image data as well as the 3 dimensional digital earth platform.(3) On the basis of fusing digital earth platform hyperspace information, we realize the 2 and 3 d data fusion and organization in China's coastal and inland river basin under certain resolution. We use serial communication technology to develop the GPS connection and navigation function and obtain a preliminary ship navigation application foundation platform which is based on hyperspace information fusion.
