With the development of the Electronic Chart Navigation System and Embedded technology, The Embedded Electronic Chart Navigation System based on 32-bits embedded microprocessor and embedded operating system has become a trend of the field of electronic navigation charts. Compared with the Electronic Chart Navigation System based on PC, The embedded Electronic Chart Navigation System is compact, high reliability and low cost.This thesis analyzes the development status of the Electronic Chart Navigation System and Embedded technology, designs an embedded Electronic Chart Navigation System. It uses high performance embedded microprocessor S3C2410, with ARM9 core as the CPU and Windows CE.net as the embedded operating system, joins with the GPS receiver, keyboard, mouse, LCD and integrates a large-capacity SD card to store electronic charts data. It provides many functions such as displaying charts, determining plan routes, monitoring routes, recording sail, positioning and navigating and so on. The system can be used as a handheld device, can also be installed in the small and medium-sized ships.This thesis completes the task of hardware design and displaying electronic charts, the other task will be completed by my classmate. This thesis analyzes the overall hardware design scheme of the system first, and introduces the hardware designing and platform building based on the development board MC2410e, the product of company Borui according to the scheme. Secondly, according to the requirement of the system it discusses the process of customizing the Windows CE.net operating system and migrating to the target device board. Then, the thesis studies the data structure of the Military Vector Chart Format(MVCF), used in the system and published by the Navigation Guarantee Department of the Chinese Navy Headquarters, and defines the data structure. Finally, the thesis introduces the displaying principle and designs the flow of the electronic chart displaying module.
