The Design And Implementation Of Embedded Electronic Chart Display & Information System(ECDIS) Base On Windows CE

Computer science changing with each passing day has motivated the development of Geographic Information System greatly and brought infinitude of energy. With the rapid development of micro-electronic and photoelectron technologies, computer are on the verge of the embedded times, various embedded computer system has been used widely. It is not Arabian night to operate computers when moving, connect to the network anytime and anywhere in different ways and combine themselves with immense digital space seamlessly.The purpose of the paper is to develop an Embedded Electronic Chart Display and Information System (EmbedECDIS) which based on embedded operation system --Windows CE, can suit to multifarious embedded products. The system integrates the rising Embedded technology and Electronic Chart Technology — applied product of Embedded GIS. The system can satisfy visualization, query and analysis of information, functions of traditional geographic information system. Besides, it accords with the IHO S57 digital chart data exchange specifications, IHO S52 specification for Chart Content and Display of ECDIS published by IHO and performance standards for ECDIS issued by IMO.The research of the paper involves computer science, such as mobile computing, embedded software development, computer graphics and wireless networks, and the electronic chart, IHO S57, S52 specifications and Global Positioning System (GPS).First, the paper analyses the status, technology background, characteristics and application of embedded electronic chart system and provides the technical foundation for embedded electronic chart navigation system. Second, it sets up the whole logical frame structure, implements the basic function and provides application solutions for embedded Electronic Chart Display &Information System (Embedded ECDIS) based on Windows CE operation system. Finally the paper summarizes the factors that should be considered in the period of developing of the system and gives a practical instance—Embedded Electronic Chart Display &Information System (EmbedECDIS), and pictures the prospect of EmbedECDIS.
