The temple gardening in Beijing is not only precious resources which rewarded by nature, but also the historical and cultural heritage left by our ancestor. And plants that are filled in the temples compose the quite important part of the integral space. Plants in the temples can spread the temple gardening idea, and meanwhile they can protect and improve the entire environment of this city. Therefore, studying the distribution of the gardening plants in Beijing temples has a dual meaning for the sustainable development of the temple gardening and the modern landscape construction.In this study, the author represented the development history,plant species and distribution characteristics of the temple gardening in Beijing at first, and subsequently, choosing ten typical temples in Beijing as the subjects, analyzed the community of the modern plant landscape, using methods in phytocoenology and plants arrangement. The studying details included plant compositions,quantitative characteristics and the variety and similarity of species. And then the author analyzed the arrangement of shrub or tree, specificly containing the landscape arrangement,distribution of plant individual and group,the coloring assortment and summarized the usual plant species in the area of Beijing. Based on the theory of AHP, a integrated evaluation model was established, having evaluated five typical temple landscapes. The result is the five temple landscapes were divided into different levels. Through the above analysis, the author propose some further suggestions for the temple gardening in Beijing and some useful methods for the modern gardening.
