In recent years, highway of Shaanxi Province developing very rapidly. The achievements are witnessed obvious to all. But because of the imperfect design theory of asphalt pavement and the increasing traffic volume, the asphalt pavement appeared a series of function destroy and structural damage, it seriously influenced the service life of the highway. In order to ensure asphalt pavement meet life cycle using performance requirements and life cycle doesn't appear structural damage, through referencing the design theory of total life cycle asphalt pavement, according to the traffic and the environmental of xi-tong highway, studied the design method of total life cycle asphalt pavement on xi-tong expressway has great significant and using value.At first this article investigated and analyzed some of status about xi-tong highway, such as traffic condition, climatic environment and the usability condition of old pavement, and put forward some basic design parameter about xi-tong expressway. And then, using of the ANSYS software to establish the statics finite element analysis model with radial tire, and taking into account the impact of axle load and tire pressure on the structure stress, proceed the analysis of mechanics in the different factor influenced the semi-rigid asphalt pavement, such as discontinuity between different layers,the end of the different operations,seasonal changes in subgrade modulus,overload etc,put forward the mechanics design index of the xi-tong expressway asphalt pavement on account of the mechanics analysis. Using LS-DYNA explicit dynamic finite element software to do the simulate dynamics analysis about reality load of the xi-tong expressway, and building the design index on account of dynamics analysis. The third it is based on the definition of total life cycle asphalt pavement, According to the project of xi-tong expressway to built a design index system about total life cycle asphalt pavement, at the same time put forward each index's design requirements. Meanwhile, studied the optimization design model of total life cycle asphalt pavement for xi-tong expressway. At last, put forward the design method and design flow of the total life cycle asphalt pavement, and according to the second structural of the total life cycle asphalt pavement to explain the design process.
