With the development of the research on synthetic automation of marshalling yard and the improvement of computer performance, hump speed control system, especially target shooting can be improved.The computing of calculated speed is the core of the automatic hump target control. This paper absorbs relevant research results and experiences of hump at home and abroad. It explores hump speed controlling and especially the method of computing calculated speed, and the details are shown as follows.(1) It analyzes the rule of rolling cars'movement, and then makes discussion of rolling resistance which has a directly influence on computing of calculated speed and automatic controlling of hump speed control system. The calculation equation of wind resistance is given by using mathematical fitting method.(2) On the basis of the rule of rolling cars'movement, the process of cars'motion in uniform variable motion, non-uniform variable motion without considering the ambient wind is discussed. A non-uniform variable motion model considering the ambient wind which is more objectively reflect the real situation is constructed, and the equation of distance-speed-time is obtained. The method of computing calculated speed based on iterative segmentation is designed.(3) The offline simulation software of hump shutting tracks'rolling process, which simulates calculating and rolling process is designed. Take Chengdu North Marshalling Station as an example to verify the effectiveness of calculation methods.
