Self-healing is a prominent characteristic of smart grid. Self-healing technique is the important guarantee to implement the smart grid, also is the support of achieve the secure operation. Through searching many domestic and foreign self-healing control techniques, combining the definition of smart grid, the paper analyzes the basic theories and techniques to achieve self-healing of power system. In addition, the key techniques:the control process of self-healing, the status supervisory of key equipment, distributed energy resource, the network optimized reconstruction, the control pattern of self-healing, are researched. This paper's main content is giving us the concept of self-healing from the medicine's field. In addition, from three aspects, devices,operation,net-work, I classified the key techniques of self-healing control. Finally, the paper provide some dates that can show the self-healing control in the smart distribution network. The power sector has been of great concern on the security of large capacity grid. Previous studies have made a very significant achievement from theory to application, which will provide nicer technology support to accomplish the intelligent decision for large capacity grid. However, the smart grid construction have put forward higher requirement for the security of large capacity grid, therefore, realize the self-healing in the large capacity grid is a formidable task. Those major research subjects proposed in this paper could just see segment of a whole. A large capacity grid construction with quick react speed and great capacity of self-healing is still on a long developments road with heavy burdens.
