Ultrasonic testing is a very important method in the field of nondestructive testing, which has been widely used in machine manufacture, petrochemical, defense industry and so on. It has become an important method to guarantee the quality of product and ensure the safety of equipment. The research of the digital ultrasonic testing device has become inevitable trend in world.Because ultrasonic testing is usually carried out in the file or on construction site, so the instrument is demanded easy to carry; and there are so many types of hardware platforms that each change will bring the appliance software redesign. View of the situation above, this paper presents an applicable software design for the handheld digital ultrasonic flaw detector, which based on embedded Linux platform. The modular design makes the system small dependence on the underlying hardware platform, and improves the system integration, reduceses system cost, and has a good human-computer interactive interface.The article detailed analysis the functions and design ideas of each module, and studies the key technologies and special functions of the system software. In the end, the paper summarizes the design work, and makes future vision of application technology for ultrasonic flaw detector.
