Railway traction power supply system, which provided traction kinetic energy for the electric locomotive, is an important part of the electrified railway system. And its reliability is directly related to the safety of railway traffic. However, because of the railway traction power supply system's unique structure, it is prone to fault effected by external factors. When the fault occurs, if the power supply system dispatch can not obtain the fault information roundly and accurately, the relevant staff will not comprehensively grasp the fault conditions, let alone to the fault analysis and troubleshooting. So it is very important to provide comprehensive fault information for the traction power supply system.Against to the above problems, a master station of fault information management system for traction power supply based on common information model was proposed in the paper. Using IEC 61970 CIM standard, the system was made a CIM model, which is suitable for fault information management and analysis. The fault information stored in the system database was obtained by the existing traction remote control substation system's communication programming which installed in power supply department, and based on this information, the master station of fault information management system can carry out the management of fault information based on Web.It described the infrastructure and operating characteristics of current railway traction power supply system, and analysed several origins, mainly including SCADA, relay protection devices and fault recorder devices, of railway traction power supply system fault information in the paper. According to the characteristics of fault information and the actual needs of electricity segment management, we built a master station system of fault information for railway traction power supply, and made a summary design for the system operational requirements, the software's overall structure and function modules. On the basis of overall design. There made an in-depth study on the CIM model, summed up the ideas and methods of CIM modeling, and established traction power supply fault information model CIM_GUZHANG based on the CIM standard using Rational Rose modeling tools in the paper. And the model was carried out a mapping in the PostgreSQL object-relational database, which includes the generation of business data tables and system management tables. Finally some functions of the system was achieved by using the method of object oriented programming, these functions are the query of fault information, the classification statistics of historical fault information, the management of protective configuration information, the information management of equipment record, and so on.In this paper, by means of the modeling based on CIM and the management function's realization for the traction power supply fault information, there reachs a comprehensive and effective management, and also verifies that it has a certain feasibility to apply CIM standards to the traction power supply fault information system.
