Electrical energy plays an important role in the development of the national economy. In China, power grid is developing towards high-voltage, large capacity, inter-regional grid. To face with the new challenges, power enterprises want to improve efficiency and control costs through data integration, data structure optimization, and effective resources allocation. Over the years, power enterprises lack of unified resource planning, and various information systems cannot share information resources, which greatly obstruct the process of power enterprise infomationization. To get out of this predicament, common information model should be established so that all the applications can share information on the consistent semantic.Based on the theories and methods of information modeling, with the help of object-oriented modeling and metadata modeling, a set of method of power enterprise information modeling is provided and practiced.Firstly, background and status quo of power enterprise informationization are analyzed, and the importance and significance of modeling are described.Secondly, main information modeling methods are compared, focus on object-oriented method and unified modeling language (UML). Then metadata and metadata modeling are studied, and the four-layer modeling method is described. After studying and analyzing the current international common information model (CM) in power industry, the thesis points out that CIM is a metadata model.Thirdly, according to CIM, power industry standards or norms, and actual demands of China's power enterprises, the thesis starts modeling power enterprise assets including transformer asset, line asset and so on. Then the relational databases and boundary view tables are designed. These examples prove the method with strong expansibility and advantages. Finally, the researches in the thesis are summarized and the future work is prospected.
