So many bump accidents between ships and bridges have happened because of the complexity of geology about channel segments and plenty of bridges in Three Gorges Reservoir Area. These have been threaten to the shipping security. The thesis provides a research about virtual reality simulation system of shipping security in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and related technology. The thesis researches the 3D visualization methods of key shipping channels of Three Gorges Reservoir Area, complex channels and dangerous channels, on the base of big scale of vector electronic channels and rivers maps in high accuracy. Then ships can be inspected dynamically in the 3D environment and make a linkage with the 2D supervision platform. These will help the inspecting department on bank to enhance supervision level and update effectively the shipping security of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area. These also boost the digitization construction of shipping and the intelligent construction in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area and establish foundations for the technology of shipping security protection and anti-bump of ships.On the base of extensive data of shipping, hydrology, weather the thesis studied the model of shipping security and built a virtual reality simulation system of shipping security. The main work of this thesis is outlined below:â‘ It analyzed the bump probability between the ship and the bridge, built a motion coordinate system of the ship near the bridge, constructed the general math model of the ship motion, and provided the technological blue print of building a virtual reality simulation system of shipping security.â‘¡It studied the key techniques of the 3D simulation system, which included the requirements on hardware and software, the relationship between classes in Vega, the definition of motion model, the control of watching point changing, bump detection and response.â‘¢It analyzed the architecture and work mechanism of the 3D supervision system, did some processing work to data from the 2D supervision system ,which including conversion of the location coordinate of the ship, preprocessing of the GPS positioning data, interpolation processing, and achieved the data conversion between two systems.â‘£It studied the application instance of the virtual reality simulation system of shipping security on different conditions of water depth, shipping orientations, weather.
