It has vital practical signification to improve the level of automatic weapon’s machining by building a CAD/CAM system for the design and process of automatic weapon part, with the extensive utilization of three-dimensional softwares and NC machine tools. Automatic weapon is a kind of special mechanical device, there are some in common and differences between its processing and general machinery machining. For example, the automatic weapon parts have a unique processing technology, complex shape, small size, many production processes, large material removal, using lots of special cutters.... Now the design, process planning, processing of the automatic weapon are finished by diffident department, so the information transfer is imperfect and the overall efficiency is not high. We conduct research about the CNC technology of automatic weapon’s strength member, present the definition of 3D process model forprocessing, put forward relevant regulation for Upstream(CADã€CAM)to promote the intergrationg of CAD and CAM.In this paper to provide convenience for CNC programmers by secondary development of NX/CAM, the main research contents ang achievement are as follow:1. Creating the 3D process model, and determine the information of feature and process which the model should include. Finally, the model can be used from designing to processing.2. Making a study of the NC programming technology based on the template by the 3D process model. Extract the typical parts’processing as templates, and set up template management system.3. We can modify the parameters of NX tool library directly or import the external tool structure parameters to the database by creating the interface for NX tool library. And extract the relevant processing experience for establishing the database of tool cutting parameters.4. Doing research into the NC programming technology accord to automatic weapon parts’ structure characteristics. In order to achieve the intergration of CAD and CAM, we creat the machining knowledge for the automatic weapon’s UDF. |
