Monitoring system, a key constituent part of wind farm substation, collects the primary side operation parameters of substation to monitor, measure, control and manage the substation, thereby to ensure favorable operation of wind farm substation..In this paper, the author analyzes three modes of substation monitoring system structures of wind farm, studies unit function and main tasks of control layer and the bay layer, introduces configuration plan of microcomputer protection and summarizes design methods of substation monitoring system in wind farm.During the internship in Nari Zhongde Company, the author participated in assembling and debugging package cubicle of substation monitoring system in wind farm as well as the setting microcomputer protection device. Integrating theory and practical experience during internship, the author proposes the debugging schemes and steps of substation monitoring system.The author also describes analysis on normal operation of substation in wind farm and operation of the monitoring system under fault as well as the fault treatment methods, introduces some possible fault types occurring to substation monitoring system in wind farm and proposes the fault treatment method for operator and maintainer in case of system fault.Taking a wind farm in Shandong for example, the author describes the design process of substation monitoring system in wind farm, including determining overall structure of the monitoring system, observation and control functions of the bay layer, communication program of main control unit as well as the model selection and configuration of hardware and software, etc. Through example, debugging and fault treatment methods of monitoring system are illustrated.Generally, existing reference materials only introduce overall design and software design of substation monitoring system in wind farm, taking no consideration on operation condition of the whole project. Besides studying overall structure of substation monitoring system in wind farm, this paper also summarizes the debugging steps through field debugging; moreover, integrating operation condition, operation analysis method and fault treatment method are proposed. It is expected that this paper may have some reference function on building and engineering application of substation monitoring system in wind farm.
