Display technology has made rapid development in twenty-first century, The kinds of display technology are change rapidly. The application of display and projector around people’s daily life and study is very widely. In the actual use of the process, display and projector to display the same content and at the same time often produce different color, the difference in many cases will cause bad experience. Because of the accuracy of cross-media color transfer by means precise optical instrument, so user can not measure the different between display and projector in their using. In this thesis, a novel method of color reproduction from CRT display to LCD projector was presented. The studies in the thesis include:(1) Measuring a projector’s color characteristics of time independence, time constancy, spatial non-uniformity and spatial independence by a spectroradiometer. The GOG, the channel crosstalk and the polynomial models were used to fit the color characteristics of the projector. The GOG model is chosen to use in following study.(2) Measuring the gamma and tone characteristics of the projector. Using a standard whiteboard, brightness of the projector was measured by the spectrophotometer at 17 points in the range 0-255 for every channel, the tone reproduction curve of the projector was fit, the gamma was calculated by normalized the amount of the digital quantity, and the gamma and fitting result were consistent with the actual measurements.(3) Calculating the transformation matrix of a display and aprojector base on visual matching 9 color patches between a display and a projector over CIELAB color space. The effects of the experimental method to improve color reproduction were tested for 40 samples by visual and color difference evaluations. The subjective assessment of five experimenters shows that the calibrated average color difference is improved.
