Research On The External Public Space Of High - Rise Residential Buildings In Beijing CBD Area

With the acceleration of urbanization and the rapid development of economy in China, the importance of regional economy is becoming increasingly prominent. Chinese maga-cities have built many Central Business Districts (CBD), which is used to carry the city’s core functions of economy and cultural center. The rapid development of CBDs has brought enormous vitality for the cities whole economy, but at the same time it is also accompanied by population explosion and urban traffic congestion, It is an important question about the healthy development of CBDs that how to solve the population collection of CBDs and simultaneously ensuring city dwellers’ living quality.The high-rise flats with high density plays an important role in settling this problem. High-rise flats with high density could relieve the pressure of dwelling shortage in impacted area. Meanwhile, they can host a mass of the residents’ public activities and public communications. The advantages and disadvantages of a community public space is related to whether there is the healthy and smooth development of public social life of residents living in the CBD, whether there is a good community atmosphere, and they the interpersonal atmosphere in the whole area of CBD indirectly. So the external public space for communication is vitally important for high-rise flats with high density in CBDs.The high-rise flats with high density in Beijing’s CBD are relatively mature, and there are many advantages of planning,designing and overall management which is worth learning and imitate. But there are also disadvantages, such as the thin consciousness of community, and the lack of public space,and the weakness of the communities’ territoriality. In this paper, through investigation on Beijing CBDs’ high-rise flats with high density, the problems of external public space for communication are pointed out and they can be solved according to the specific conditions. And there is the design strategy for high-rise flats with high density in CBDs.
