To Geotechnical Engineering and other related specialties, Soil Mechanics is one of the important courses. But present instruction means for Soil Mechanics is not hamony to the development of Geotechnical Engineering, the modern technology for instruction should be applied to the instruction of Soil Mechanics. The research of Computer Assisted Instruction is necessary to the education innovation as the important part of modern technology for instruction. With the developing of information technology, CAI based the network will be the tendency of the traditional CAI. On the basis of the overall research of the modern technology for instruction, this thesis is focus on the research and design of Computer Assisted Instruction based the network for soil mechanics. The following will be mentioned in this paper:1. The technology for instruction is well studied. It is the foundation of the research for CAI.2. It is investigated that what is the form, the basic mode and structrue of Computer Assisted Instruction as well as the method of making it into true.3. Computer Assisted Instruction based network is not thought much of in our country, though it is the developing direction of CAI. So the keystone and the method of achieving it are analyzed in depth.4. The instruction design of soil mechanics is done in this thesis. Applying modern technology to the instruction of Soil Mechanics is proved necessary.5. As an example, The method of design for CAI based network for soil mechanics is particularly explained.6. The compact disk for the system is completed.
