R.C. special-shaped columns frame is a popular structure and will be widely used in house buildings. But because much higher stress exists in the discontinues parts and corners of the cross section, and the severe destruction under earthquake happens to the R.C. special-shaped column frame, the design and usage of the R.C. special-shaped column frame is limited by local seismic branch. In this paper, in order to generalize R.C. special-shaped column frame, its seismic behavior is studied and a new dissipating-seismic-energy structure, R.C. special-shaped column frame with Viscoelastic Friction Damper(F-Ved) is proposed and studied.A three-dimension solid element model is established for a special-shaped column frame to study its seismic behavior and time history responses under earthquake, some conclusion is drawn about its characteristics of force and displacement under horizontal earthquake action. Then, the factors which cause the R.C. special -shaped column frame to strongly destroy are given.The finite element modals of VED,FRD and F-Ved are established whose hysteretic curves are obtained by analyzing their dynamical performance. And the impact of every parameters of F-Ved element, stiffness coefficient and damper coefficient of VED element, normal stiffness , tangent stiffness and sliding friction of FRD element and the cross-section area of the brace on the capability of dissipating vibration energy is computed and analyzed.Finally the dynamical responses of R.C. special-shaped column frame with VED, FRD and F-Ved are analyzed under minute earthquake and disastrous earthquake, which are compared to that of R.C. special-shaped column frame. The results indicates that the new system with VED, FRD and F-Ved can effectively reduced the seismic responses than special-shaped column frame; and that it is more obvious for R.C. special-shaped column frame with F-Ved to control than for that with VED or FRD.
