At present, as well as other developed countries china is also faced with two problems that are energy shortage and environmental pollution. They are main obstacles to the improvement of people's living standards. So it is an inevitable choice to change the traditional energy production style and exploit renewable energy. As an agriculture country, china has rich biomass resources. So developing biomass utilization is a main aspect of exploiting renewable energy. Biotechnology has made great progress in china because government pays much attention to biotechnology study recently, but there are also great distances. Comparing with IEA countries biotechnology that exist advanced level is necessary in order to catch up with them. This also has an important meaning.This article collects internal and external documents extensively, and introduces them in detail. It quantifies the developing statues quo of biotechnology through the expert investigation method and provides some useful proposals in light of china's specific conditions. The article can be as a reference basis for Chinese relevant departments to make the plan of biomass utilization.
