Combustion system for industrial boiler is a complicated time-varying and dynamic process, with obvious non-linearity, tight coupling, long time lags, and strong interference. So it's hard to achieve ideal control performance and higher rate of auto-control in operation with conventional control algorithms. Based on the analysis of the present situation and development trend of boiler control domestic and overseas and long-time situ experiments, application of advanced control for industrial boiler is researched profoundly in this paper and it is proved that this method can get good regulating quality, enhance combustion efficiency and realize energy-saving, which not only has value on academic study but also has remarkable economic benefits and social benefits.Weighting generalized predictive self-tuning controller (GPC) and generalized predictive self-tuning controller with proportion and integration structure (PIGPC) are used in the paper to realize continuous system simulation of boiler combustion control and the adaptation and robustness of the two types of controller are proved. In the paper, control is divided into two loops, each is described by Controlled Auto-regressive Integration Average Moving (CARIMA) model and make measurable disturbance feed-forward to eliminate its effect on controlled parameter and to reduce the interaction among loops. GPC and PIGPC are compared by simulation, adding white noise in the process and estimating parameter with time-varying forgetting factor algorithm. By means of continuous system simulation, the boiler combustion system simulation absorb the idea of analogue computer modularization programming and apply it to the programming of digital control system, thus have the advantage of good real-time performance and high precision. In addition, some characters of robustness and astringency of adaptive system is researched in the paper.Many simulation results have demonstrated that the controllers can better realize the control for boiler combustion and overcome to some extent the shortcomings of conventional algorithms. These results provide helpfulexperimental support for the situ realization of the two types of controllers; likewise, the realization of the communication between two computers offers reliable hardware guarantee for safe arid effective operation of the control system.
