The Research And Assessment Of Channel Transit Capacity

In accordance with the practical need of production and the achievements of the predecessor's research,this paper takes a further insight into the channel transit capacity. A comprehensive concept is brought up through the analysis from the asepects of the micro-operation of vessels and the macro-traffic. Some improvement is gained based on the research of the channel transit capacity of the traffic flow of the vessel channel and the comparative analysis of various mathematical formula in the previous field of traffic. On the basis of the research on the channel transit capacity of single vessel,and with the combination of previous research methods,a comprehensive assessment model is set up in view of the effective width of the channel;the passing depth of the channel;the time taken for passing at high tide. Some new viewpoint are developed from the mathematical analysis on the width of the track belt. An applied program,the Assessment System on the Channel Transit Capacity,is developed with Visual Basic 6.0. This program is applied in the assessment of the channel transit capacity of the shoal channel outside the mouth. The result will provide some practical suggestions to the real practice in the transit of this channel.
