Steel structural system tall building will be a main direction of tall building developing in China. However, steel materials have obvious disadvantages as well as their advantages. If they are not to be disposed suitably in construction, it might lead to the results of increasing project construction cost and maintenance cost, shortening the longevity of building, and being unsuitable for use. At last, it might lead to many difficulties for the application of steel structure in common buildings.First of all, based on analyzing the behaviors and features of varieties of steel structural tall buildings, the behaviors and features of steel materials, the features of preserving and maintaining technologies, this paper puts forward the ideas of appropriate steel structural technologies which are suitable for the China's situations to design and construct tall building in China.Secondly, from the ways of vertical resistant structural systems, floor structure systems, preserving systems, craftwork systems, and so on, this paper further analyses the appropriate steel structural technologies for tall buildings in above ways, and puts forward the strategies on how to combine steel structural technologies with tall building's plan forms, spaces, shape, details and so on.Finally, combined with mass-produced building (residential buildings) from the applied lay, this paper analyses the existent problem of steel structural residential buildings, and then puts forward the measures of application appropriate steel structural technologies for block of flats, and the design models of steel structural block of flats.
