Studies On Technical Scheme Of Extension Of Shenyang To Dalian Expressway

Shenyang to Dalian Expressway, the first and longest expressway within Mainland and key part of Tongjiang to Sanya State trunk road as well as main artery in Liaoning Province, opened to traffic in September 1st, 1990. Traffic volume grows faster during the last 10 years. Considering its important roles it plays in economic construction of Liaoning Province and from a long-term development point of view, the expressway will be rebuilt with 8 lanes and 42M wide embankments.Such a large-scale extension of expressway is first in China. Based on investigations and inspections of its embankments, pavements, bridges and researches of similar projects, current conditions, disease reasons and problems existing in highway reconstruction in China are evaluated and analyzed in this paper. The reasonable, safe, feasible and economical technical schemes are determined, by means of necessary theory analysis and calculation and based upon studies on extension scheme and key technical problems about route, embankments, pavements, bridges, interchanges.The study provides with a sound base for the extension of the expressway. Conclusions of this paper could be applied to other similar projects.
