Today, the application software of power system is too enormous and complicated to be maintained and enlarged, so at the end of 20th, the application of object-oriented technique (OOT) in power system becomes research focus to solve the problem. This paper develops a simulation database system, which tries to apply OOT to power system simulation software development.In this paper a new design idea has been put forward that combines the OO-layer method with Unification method to realize the integration of relation database and object-oriented database. We also present the concepts and structures of power system basic class database and simulation database. The object-relational simulation database system we develop has the features of little redundancy and easy to be maintained and extended. On the base of simulation database we can conveniently integrate diverse object-oriented simulation applications and provide a uniform database sustentation for them.A database management software has been developed with PB in this paper, which makes database management more flexible and available. In order to offer an object-oriented method to access database we also program an interface between database and simulation application with VC++.
