A Study On Development And Paradigm Of Shanghai City Planning During Early-Modern Period (1840～1949)

This paper puts great emphasis on analyzing the history of Shanghai Early-Modern city planning, the content of the city planning practice, theevolution of city planning administrative department and rule, as well as the influence of the west Early-Modern city planning on Shanghai, and studying the paradigms and the paradigm shift in Shanghai Early-Modern city planning. Through the analysis and investigation, the thesis tries to reveal the historical phase, the style, the character and the paradigm in the history of Shanghai Early-Modern city planning, and realize the experience of Shanghai Early-Modern city planning, and discuss the exemplars of development in the history of Chinese city planning.This paper is composed of six chapters. The first chapter contains the object, the purpose, the methods of study, as well as the present status of study in Shanghai Early-Modern city planning. The second chapter defines the historical phases and reviews the course and content of Shanghai Early-Modern city planning. The third chapter reviews the evolution of city planning administrative department and rule. The forth chapter studies the import of the west Early-Modern city planning as paradigm and reviews the paradigms in Shanghai Early-Modern city planning. The fifth chapter analyzes the two important city planning projects from the viewpoint of paradigm and studies the paradigm shift in Shanghai Early-Modern city planning. The sixth chapter is epilogue.This paper purpose to gain an apocalypse from the study, provide a reference for city planning and construction in nowadays, make the study has practical significance.
