With the development of modernization of electric system network and improvement of industry and enterprise, the request for automation in substation is higher and higher. The automation system is required to control the overall situation of the whole electrified wire netting, monitor and control the condition of device, and fulfill four remote functions, that is, telemeter, communication,remote adjustment, and remote control .In addition, the system should record thehistorical data, form tables, analyze the data as well. As computers are widely used in the control field of electricity system, the supervisory control software has developing quickly. The old power distribution supervisory control system has much shortness in general use. What's more, the traditional system took much time to develop, which caused hard developing task. This paper studies how to improve the generation and convenience using the popular configuration technique.At first, this paper discusses the developing condition of supervisory control software at home and abroad, and points out the background, the contents and importance of this paper. Besides, it explains some basic concepts.Then, the paper gives the design of the overall structure of the supervisory control software according to the features and requirements of electrical system. The system is divided into two parts, that is, configuring platform and running platform. At the same time, it puts forward with the feature of power distribution system in both hardware and software. Next, the paper focuses on the key technique used in each part of the system, emphasizing the graph and database technique.Graph technique is mainly used in the part of graph configuration. It mainly refers to drawing with GDI functions, forming graph gallery, and how to connect the elements of the graph with the variables in order to fulfill the changing and moving effect imitating what is going on in the real world. In addition, it brings forward the special concept of table configuration and the way to fulfill it.Database technique is used in the part of system parameter configuration. It includes the special real-time database technique, at the same time using ODBC to connect the common relative database and the technique of how to retrieve and deal with the data. Apart from that, it discusses each property page of this part.Besides, this paper puts forward new concepts of communicationconfiguration, as well as the implementation of it. As for the network technique used in the supervisory control system, it introduces some new ideas and suggestions of improving the system.Next, it illustrates with the Xiangyun Project, explaining the way when the configuration platform is used in actual project. In the end, and then it simply compares the technique of configuration and virtual instrument, in order to deepen the understanding of configuration software.
