| With the quick development of computer technology, computer aided design is widely applied to all kinds of fields. With the second-development of AutoCAD, based on the hydraulic cylinder product stylebook of FuShun hydraulic element factory, and at the same time consulting many mechanical design handbooks thus hydraulic cylinder computer aided design come into reality. The main body of the program is written with LISP, and the interface between person and computer is written with VB, furthermore the software technology of AutoCAD ActiveX is used in the joint between program and outer environment adopts. The program primarily consists of two parts: first is computer-aided design of hydraulic cylinder. Assemblyand component drawings of all kinds of standard or nonstandard item can be drawn automatically. The program composed of many function modules inconstruction can realize different function, and the main design parameter is transferred by data document. So it can really reinforce the drawing ability of software and make the software's update and maintenance become convenient. Second is the computer-aided design assistant. This is a general AutoCAD tool, and it can be used in not only hydraulic cylinder CAD, but also other CAD in order to make some complicate operating easy. Besides, in this paper the method to achieve the automatic data retrieval in standard item handbook is expounded, and with some actual examples the application way in computer-aided design of hydraulic cylinder is illustrated, too. Finally much advice about software's perfection and improvement is given, and some impossible problems in using are discussed, too.
