Now there are more than dozens of ports at the upriver of Changjiang River and Zhujiang River. The water level gaps of these ports are between 17 meters and 52 meters. The docks that has the built cable car for passenger transportation at the upriver of Changjiang are the docks in Chaotianmen Port at Chongqing , Zigui Port and Taipingxi Port at Sanxia Yichang. Cable car for passenger transportation is now beening widely used in the incline ports with big water level gap, so it is desirable to systemize the research of cable car.With the rebuilding of the submerging establishment of Sanxia reservoir, the water conservancy condition of the ports in Sanxia reservoir, Changjiang has been changed greatly. Considering the port geological structure, landform, hydrology and investment conditions, the degree of the incline must be small . Passengers must go across a long incline when they get on or down the ships. In order to decrease the time passengers spend in the ports, each port applies the cable car to transport passengers. But according to the investigated data, most of the safety protection equipments applied by cable car for passenger transportation are not available, many cable cars are not equipped with them, as a result, the safety of cable car is not ensured. Cable car for passenger transportation is now the most widely used device to transport the passengers in and out of the ports, so it is important to resolve this safety problem.This article introduces a new safety protection device for cable car that is used to transport passengers. In the part of explaining the working theory, it introduces the mechanism among the organs during the trigging process. Through theoretical calculation it gets the sizes required to make this device effective, proves this device can trig the cable car at any place of the railway when the tow steel wire ruptures suddenly provided that the desirable sizes are meted. It also calculates the trigging displacement, acceleration and time. By simulating the trigging process and using carton it replays the trigging process and makes the process more explicit and visual. In the part of computing the wallop it computes the wallop passengers come under during the trigging process, analysis the rationality of the wallop in theory and proves that passengers will not be thrownout of the cable car.Sanxia hinge is the largest project in the world. Its economy boom will effect the ecnomy of our country. Because of the tour development in Sanxia , it is importmentto resolve the safety problem of cable car for passenger transportation. Now there are all kinds of safety protection device used by cable car for passenger transportation in different docks. All the devices are designed according to different water conservancy condition. So they have advantages and limitations. The new device provided by this article summarizes the advantages and limitation of all the existing different devices. It can be offered to refer and advice the building and designing the safety protection device in other passenger transportation ports.
