The Distribution Automation System is an information management system based on computer technology, automation control technology, data communication technology and correlative electric power system technology. Being the core unit of the Distribution Automation System, the Feeder Terminal Unit ,namely FTU .samples AC input(such as voltage, current and so on) and state(for example: switch state) and executes remote control command(break or close).This paper is mainly based on the study of Feeder Terminal Unit based on DSP. The work of this paper includes: first, introduces the design of the hardware system and the software system of FTU, and then, discusses the implementation of the communication protocol:ffiC870-5-101 and DNP 3.0 in detail. This FTU does well in such sides as: realtime data sampling and processing, digital signal input and output, communication with PC and configuration.The FTU adopts RS232 standard, has good realtime quality, and can be configured easily and conveniently by PC, so ,it has high popularizing values.
