With the development of power market and the end of power equipment reconstruction, users attach importance to management of Feeder Terminal in the power system and put forward higher and higher demand to power quality and reliability in our country. In this instance, Distribution System Automation acquires rapid development. Because of being short of a long-term investment and. amelioration, the Distribution seems to be out of time. Achieved reliability of power supply is under the level of developed countries by a long way. Ministry of Power had made a high demand that power dependability ought to be attained goal of 99.96%, So it is high time that we put Feeder Automation in practice. Native Distribution Automation took an active part in Feeder Terminal Unit abut 10kv electric network. Early researches based on SCM had gotten a mass of production. But its limited ability in FFT operation, communication, extensibility that degree of accuracy was low and unbalanced error was high when power harmonic wave appeared or three-phase circuits were unbalanced. With applying of DSP, modern electron, communications, field bus, computer and network technology, FTU based on DSP technology ? and communication function becomes a hotspot. Though some productions have been designed, they still need fareyouwell and improvement.As one of most important roles, Feeder Automation is my area study. This paper is mainly about the study of Feeder Terminal Unit based on DSP, namely, DSP is a master CPU in FTU. Contents of this paper include: introduces the design of the hardware system and the software system of FTU. For instance multilayer PCB and using CPLD in place of unattached circuit component improve security. By analyzing modes of FTU network, middle station perfect all-around levels of Power SCADA. and then, discusses the implementation of the power communication new 101 protocol of 2002 edition. performs mathematics processing including Fast Fourier Transform Algorithm (FFT) and integral Algorithm to voltage and current sign. Both experiment results are contrasted at the same time. FTU transfers data to home site (PC) by balanced or unbalanced transmission and executes remote control command (break or close).This FTU system, bases on optical fiber communication knowing from conventional FTU of TVS and ITS, takes one set of PT and CT to sample multiple path AC input and takes FFT wave analysis to accomplish all kinds ofparameters operation. The data are prepared for unbalanced transmission of master station interrogation, while, the results of fault use balanced transmission procedures as initiative sending.According to the results of the research and test, the FTU designed in this paper has the features of high calculating speed, strong real-time quality and strong data-processing ability; it is an equipment with standard RS232 interface. It can communicate through the communication 101 protocol with the simulating home site (PC). As the result of tried receiving and dispatching of message, the designs can be proved to be good and trustworthy.
