In recent years, the functional requirement of big space in the lower part of tall building results in big changing of vertical rigidity of structure and it is necessary to set transfer story to meet the requirement. By now, specialists from home and abroad have studied the design methods and constructional measures of complex tall buildings. The style and position of transfer story in the structure are various and the layout of transfer story is influenced by many factors, at the same time, the seismic response characteristic of the whole building is influenced by layout of transfer story. The relative research and practical experiences are not sufficient and that is the object of this thesis.In this paper, taking complex tall building-Oriental Times Square in Xiamen with high position transfer story and three towers as an example, using national current program SATWE, the influences of the position and style of transfer story on seismic response of complicated tall buildings are investigated, the advantages and disadvantages of each layout are compared, some suggestions to the building are given and some rules and conclusions are summarized.The analysis results and suggestions have been adopted in the structural design. From above analysis, the thesis gets conclusions as following:(1)Total shearing forces under earthquake action in stories under transfer story increase as position of transition story elevated, which is the negative impact resulted from higher position of transfer story and the regulations of position of transfer story in code is reasonable. Research shows that the maximum shear and moment or the maximum increment happens in the ground floor due to elevating of position of transition story;(2)When transfer story is located at higher position, the in-story displacement between floors near transfer story change severely, but the value is smaller than the value came from the lower position of transfer story;(3)It is economical in cost and beneficial for seismic properties of whole structure to reduce the depth of the transfer beam simultaneously ensuring its shear, blending and deformation capacity under vertical load, wind load and seismic action;(4)Big depth beam and thick transfer plate are advantageous for anti-torsion of structure, but frequently transferring is disadvantageous for anti-torsion of structure and should be limited.
