In recent years, the functional requirement of big space in the lower part of tall building results in big changing of vertical stiffness of structure and it is necessary to set transferable story to meet the requirement. Specialists of home and abroad have studied the design methods and constructional measures of complex tall buildings. The style and position of transferable story in the structure are various and the layout of transferable story is influenced by many factors, at the same time, the global seismic response of the structure is influenced by layout of transferable story. Based on real construction, the text studies how the transferable story affects the seismic response of the structure.On the base of the complex tall building of luzhou Boston,which has tall transferable story of beam type, the text uses three-dimensional procedure of SATWE to study how the height of the transferable story affect the seismic response, how the transferable beam stiffness and the floor thickness affect the torsion capability of the transferable beam, find out the general rule of the seismic response influenced by beam transfer and give some advices for design.The critical conclusions and advices:(1) When the stories above the transferable story is the same, the discrepancy of characteristic period and shake type is small between tall and low transferable story .As the transferable story becoming high, it's seismic response become larger, the story's seismic response below the transferable story augment, weakness story easily appear, it is harmful to withstand earthquake. So it is not suitable to adopt tall transferable story, and limit the setting height by the design code.(2) When the position of the transfer story is tall, the section and reinforcing steel below the transferable story should be enhanced in order to increase the ductibility. At the same time , the vertical member's section and reinforcing steel of the stories above the transferable story in the range of one to two ,should be properly enhanced. The upside vertical members should locate on the critical members of the transfer story, avoiding for secondary transfer.(3) The equivalent vertical stiffness ratio of above and below the transferable story should be controlled. It is necessary to reduce the horizon story displacement and drift angle, reduces the brake of stress around the transferable story. (4) The torsion caused by asymmetry loads and secondary beam loads is consanguineous correlation with floor thickness of the transferable story. In the design of torsion, beside amplifying the torsion stiffness by changing geometry ratio of the section, the floor thickness should be enhanced.
