Natural language understanding is applied to product design by understanding andanalysis of the user requirements in natural language style, which are conversed into therequirement of conceptual design,to support the future design. First,Method based on knowledge should be adopted in the natural languageunderstanding applied to product design domain according to the characteristic ofnatural language understanding in product design domain. Secondly,ConceptualDependency theory is chosen as an important complementarity to the method based onknowledge, through analysis and compares of several existing semantic analysis methodpresent. And Concept is discussed thoroughly based on resource model. Thirdly,Conceptual Dependency Trees are set up based on Conceptual Dependency theory andresource model to denote the relation of concepts. Concept connotation is discussed indetail and the template of the noun's concept connotation is established. As a result, theknowledge representation system of semantic analysis of concept connotation isobtained. Fourthly, semantic analysis rule is written to understand the conceptconnotation in the sentence on the basis of the work done, which can understand theconcept connotation in corresponding fields. Last, semantic analysis of natural languageunderstanding is applied to requirement analysis archetypal system for motionmechanism, which runs well after debug. It is applied to tutorship system for algebratoo. By system testing, it turns up trumps. Natural language understanding is a huge and complex system project. Thispaper includes semantic analysis of natural language understanding based on knowledgeand conceptual dependency theory. However, owing to restriction in time, conditionsand author individual cognition, the further research and improvement is needed insemantic analysis of concept connotation adjective and verb, representation andunderstanding of complex concept connotation, the reduction of the knowledgeredundancy, etc.
