Semantic Analysis is the key of whether sentence processing can get breakthrough or not. Semantic Analysis has played such an important role in NLU. In this paper, Semantic analysis of prepositions phrases in NLU is discussed . and it is applied to the early stage of the product design such as demand analyse in this paper. and it offers support for the follow-up design.At first,The characteristic and the actuality of nature language understanding is introduced, Natural language understanding is applied to product design on the basis of Method based on knowledge and conceptual dependency theory is chosen as the foundation of the semantic analysis. Then the difficulty of semantic analysis of prepositions phrases is how to classify prepositions phrases, dig its semantic information. To this question,A kind of thinking dealt with to the common preposition structure is brought forward. On the basis of the work done and conceptual dependency trees of 'Time' and 'Location', the treatment model and procedure of different kinds of prepositions phrase is set up, The semantic analysis of some common prepositional phrases in corresponding fields is implementation. At Last Semantic analysis of Chinese prepositional phrases is applied to requirement analysis archetypal system of mechanical transmission. Semantic analysis program is written to understand sentence and it runs well after debugging.
