This thesis discusses the ship's safety problem relevant to the influence of vessel generated waves produced by vessel sailing in the restrict water.Firstly, the article introduces the characteristics of ship waves and analyses the difference between the waves generated by vessel and the other waves. The status quo of research work about vessel generated waves and the progress made in this field in and out of the country is also introduced. The perils caused by the vessel generated wave, especially the danger caused in restricted water, are list in detail. The theory of ship waves is very complex and it is still to be matured, so very precise result can not be calculated. This paper collects and compared empirical formula concerning vessel generated waves which include the PLANC recommend formula. This formula can describe the character of vessel generated waves to some degree. This paper puts emphases on the movement of vessel caused by the waves and a mathematical model about movement is built in the light of sea keeping theory. The relation between the rolling angle of the vessel and the speed of the vessel which produce the waves is deduce with the variety of the distance by calculation and simulation. With reference to the standard of ship operation we can figure out the range of speed and the range of distance that are safe for the ships nearby. The paper offers a reference for the transportation management especially for the vessel speed limit control. So the result is useful in practice.
